We had a wonderful lunch here. Absolutely delicious, excellent service and very nice ambiance. I'm just sad that I don't live nearby so it's tough for me to come back again! 🙂

Always been skeptical about tempura omakase restaurants. After all, how good can bunch of fried foods be? Tominokoji Tempura Matsui opened my eyes to the world of tempura omakase that is balanced and refined. The course started with mixed of silky tofu, anchovies, and spinach followed by delicious yellowtail and tuna sashimi that were perfect in texture and tastes. The tempura course then officially begin with shrimps freshly caught from the tank that was de-shelled and fried. Every piece of tempura were crispy without oil residue. Each pieces were given recommended instructions on how to perfectly season the tempura. The meal never got too heavy as it was balanced with pickled vegetables and green bean soup. Overall it was an affordable yet complete dining experience and I would not be surprised if this establishment gets Michellin recognition soon.

Strongly recommended! Back again! Love this place! Best Veg tempura! I live in Kyoto and often cook tempura at home myself, but this place is great. The master immediately understood vegetarian and offered options to avoid fish stock (dashi). Perfectly cooked Kyoto style tempura amazing service and 気遣い. I will be back! You can eat a good meal for less than $10 or pay more for a fest.

We had ten-don (tempura don) for lunch here. One of us had vegetable ten-don and one had mixed, which contained conger eel, shrimp and a few vegetables. Both very fresh, very tasty. The tempura itself was light and not at all oily. For more travel information, visit NextStageTravel dot com
