Surrounded by the sea on three sides, Oga peninsula has a lot of tourist attractions such as beautiful ocean, mountains, foods and festivals. One of the most famous evens is a traditional Namahage event. The locals wear the ogre masks and go around the neighborhood at the end of the year, December 31. Namahage is an ogre folklore passed down for generations in Oga peninsula and tourists can see the displays at the Namahage-kan museum at the foot of Mt. Mayama. The museum exhibits masks, costumes used in Namahage event and you can try them on for your commemorative photos. The best scenic beauty in Oga peninsula is Nyudousaki, a promontory where the dynamism of the ocean view will take your breath away.
