Bandai
Historic town with high quality natural water at the foot of Mt. Bandai.
Area Map
Bandaimachi Town is located at the foot of the great mountain Bandai, with high quality natural water and rich nature. The biggest feature is, of course, Mt. Bandai. The 1,819 meters high volcano is popular for climbers, but you can drive to the top by using the Mt. Bndai Gold Line. It shows you many facets by season, but the most recommended season to visit is fall when the mountain is full of red & yellow leaves. The colorful and beautiful mountain in fall is well worth a visit. In the town, there is Enichi-ji temple. The temple is said to be the oldest temple in Tohoku region, established some 1,200 years ago. The Golden pavilion was restored in 2008, and it is open for visitors.
