Fukuyama

Fukuyama City boasts the second largest population in Hiroshima Prefecture, next to Hiroshima City. The city is located at the east-end of the prefecture. It has a long history of prospering as a castle town of the Fukuyama castle, and there are many historic sites worth a visit including Myo-o-in temple along the Ashida River and Kusado Inari shrine that is one of the five famous Inari shrines in Japan. Tomonoura is the first designated National Park in Japan, and it offers a great scenery of the islands scattered in the Inland Sea. It is a port town once prospered as a city where Korean Envoys visited, and there are many historic buildings and sites that are worth taking your time.
