Area Map
With an international airport, New Chitose Airport, Chitose is a doorway of Hokkaido. You can also take a flight to other parts of Hokkaido including Hakodate, Kushiro, Memanbetsu, Wakkanai and Memuro, making it a hub airport. Lake Shikotsu at the outskirt of the city is famous for its clarity of the water, and you can enjoy camping and cruising on a boat to watch the beautiful view from the lake. When you are in the Lake Shikotsu area, you can never miss the opportunity to taste a kokanee dish called "chip." Restaurants at the lakeside serve their unique "chip" dish like a salt-grilled kokanee and sushi, so you can compare the tastes of each restaurant-specific "chip."
