Morioka City is a metropolis of Iwate Prefecture and has developed as a castle town. It represents a unique combination of new and old, urbaneness and rusticity. At the center of the city, you can enjoy beautiful seasonal flowers such as rabbitear iris blossom on the bank of the Nakatsu River. Alongside the river, there are several sightseeing spots, such as Gozamaru, a merchant house which was built in the Edo Period, historic buildings of Iwate Bank and Kyu-Daikyuju Bank, which are designated as Important Cultural Properties, and Morioka History and Culture Museum, where you can learn traditional culture and history of Morioka.
