Area Map

Hyuga
The 1st Sunday of August every year, a festival that represents Hyuga, “Hyottoko Summer Festival” is held. More than 2,000 performers with bright red kimonos, white belts, and white loincloths put on masks of hyottoko, a man with a funny expression, okame or fox, and dance and stroll around the city, making everyone smile and happy. In addition to Hyottoko Summer Festival, there are many more attractions in Hyuga City that offer grandeur and beautiful sceneries including the Hyuga Cape, Umagase, and Cruss Sea. But the funny Hyottoko Summer Festival is very unique and you can never experience elsewhere, so it is recommended especially for people from outside Japan to join.
