Located at the center of Niigata Prefecture, Nagaoka is a quiet town surrounded by mountains, rivers, and the sea. Shinano River that flows through the city center is the symbol of the town. There are full of cultural facilities including national parks, art galleries, and museums. On August 2 and 3 every year, Nagaoka Festival Fireworks attract one million spectators from all over Japan. Along the marine market street you can find a variety of sea foods, and you can taste them. The beach is crowded with people during summer, enjoying swimming and marine sports. In the evening, the scenery of the sun setting on the coastline of the Sea of Japan gives you a romantic moment.
