Area Map
Ishigaki Island is located at the center of the Yaeyama Islands which consist of more than 30 islands including Haterumajima Island, the southernmost island, and Yonakunijima Island, the westernmost island. The annual average temperature is around 24 ℃, even in winter you can go anywhere without a jacket. Ishigakijima is the hub for marine transportation that connects each island by ferry services. Even though it is a small remote island, water is abundant which helps grow juicy fruits throughout the year. The Kawahira Bay has a marvelous view where the color of the ocean is changing to seven different colors by the changing angle of the sunray. If you cruise the bay by a glass-bottomed boat, you will be amused by the scenery of tropical fishes around the coral reefs. The public transportation is limited to a bus service, therefore hiring a taxi or using rental car/bike service is highly recommended.
