Area Map
It takes only 10 minutes from Ishigaki Island by ferry. Taketomi Island is a flat, tiny island with a beautiful red-roofed tiles community. The statues of Okinawa lions on the red-roofed tiles, colorful tropical flowers on the white sandy paths are feasts on your eyes and you can enjoy this unique scenery in the sways of Buffalo Vehicles, Buffalo-towing cars. Taketomi Island is the most popular island in the Yaeyama Islands because it preserves Okinawa’s traditional ambience and designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Most of the visitors make a day trip from Ishigaki Island, however, real pleasure is that you spend a time on the beach at night -- you can see the surface of the ocean reflecting the moonlight in the middle of quiet serene darkness.
