Imari City has many local specialties such as Imariyaki, or Imari ware, which has 300 years of history; fruits including Kyoho grape and Japanese pear which quality and quantity are No.1 in West Japan; Imarigyu, or Imari-beef, with its soft texture and flavor is highly evaluated; shrimps, plums, salt and so on. Imari is a city of long history and tradition, too. “Hiyo-no-Sato, Okawauchiyama” is the center of the Imariyaki production, and the best Imariyaki items called “Nabeshima” were produced here. Those Imari wares used to presented to the Edo Government and the Imperial Court during the Edo Period. Imari-beef hamburger won the local food Grand Prix in Kyusyu Region for 3 years in a row. You can also visit many sightseeing spots such as Myojo cherry blossom, Imarin Beach, and Take-no-koba Park in Genkai Semi-National Park. Imari Bay is the largest habitat for Horseshoe crabs, which are designated Natural Treasures
