Located almost halfway between Tokyo and Osaka, Hamamatsu city has the second largest gross area in Japan. Green and shining Enshu rough sea coast in the south, rugged Akaishi Mountains in the north, Tenryu river where you can enjoy rafting in the east, and Lake Hamana that is famous for the eels in the west -- north, south, east and west, you can find unique attractions in each direction. The city is famous not only for eels, but also famous as a city of agriculture, producing the extremely sweet mandarin "Mikkabi Mikan" and the big-size grape "Pione." The most famous of all is "Hamamatsu Gyoza", the local pot sticker. Hamamatsu is always ranked as the number one or two consumer of pot stickers in Japan.
