Located at 100 km west from Okinawa's main island, Kumejima Island has many beaches such as Hatenohama which is called the best beach in the Orient. At every beach in the island, the color of coral white sand and cobalt ocean-blue create a beautiful contrast. You can also enjoy aquatic wonders by snorkeling. Kumejima Island is well-known as a diver’s paradise. You can see a variety of tropical fishes, whale sharks, dolphins, mantas, and parent-children humpback whales. There is a bus route that circles around the island so you can travel leisurely while enjoying the beautiful ocean view. You can also visit other attractions including the Uesuke Residence, a designated Important Cultural Property, and Ue Castle.
