A quaint garden as National Scenery Beauty.

Area Map

Kannon-in
Kannon-in is one of the 8 pray halls of the Ikeda family, the landlord of the Tottori feudal domain. As each time the principle idol, Bodhisattva of Mercy and Salvation, was transferred to another temple, the altar where the idol sits became larger, it is worshiped as a Bodhisattva of Promotion. The garden, Kannon-in Garden, is designated as a National Scenery Beauty. It is a pond-centered landscape garden, a large pond occupies the half of the garden, and rocks and plans are arranged on natural slopes. The rock arrangements on the small islands, Kameshima Island and Tsurushima Island, and waterfalls have kept its appearance from the Genroku age, the late 17 century. Tea service is available, therefore you can thoroughly enjoy the masterpiece of Japanese landscape garden over a cup of tea, especially in autumn.
