"Forty-seven Ronin", a factious story based on a historical fact, is one of the most beloved stories among Japanese. In the story, forty-seven loyal retainers successfully take revenge on the enemy who made their master to hara-kiri. Sengakuji temple is the place where the loyal retainers and their master, Asano-takuminokami are buried. Even today many people visit the graveyard and offer flowers. The 47 ronin festival is held twice a year in spring and winter, and on December 14 (the anniversary of the avenge), 47 ronin parade is performed after the memorial service, attracting thousands of visitors.
