Kamakurakōkō-Mae Station was made famous by the opening of the anime "SLAM DUNK". Nowadays, it has become a sacred spot for tourists from overseas, such as Taiwan, to see this spot. But if you have come all the way to Kamakura, why not enjoy the gourmet food as well? We will introduce three carefully selected restaurants, ranging from ocean view restaurants to hideaway bars frequented by locals.
1. La Bastide sur la mer
French cuisine in Kamakura served in a beautiful mansion reminiscent of the South of France
"La Bastide sur la mer" is located a two-minute walk from Kamakurakōkō-Mae Station, with a chalk-white appearance that at first glance looks like a private villa. With its modest signage, it has become a well-known restaurant among. On a fine day, all the windows that serve as partitions between the restaurant and the sea are fully open. You can feel the ocean close by not only from the terrace, but also from the tables inside the restaurant.
The base of their ingredients are carefully nurtured in the neighborhood. Seasonal fresh fish from the Miura fishing port, Kamakura vegetables, and other seasonal ingredients are carefully selected. Various specialties, such as "Kamakura Vegetable Gargouille" beautifully arranged on a canvas-like plate and "Bouillabaisse" with condensed seafood flavor, can be fully enjoyed as a course both at lunch and dinner.

3. Beau Temps
Vin Naturel and delicious French cuisine at a back-alley wine bar
"Beau Temps" is located in an alley off of Yuigahama Oodori Street. “Beau Temps” is a wine bar that creates a hideaway atmosphere with its charming location in a back alley in Hase and a building converted from a barn of an old private house. The owner, Kazuhiro Igarashi, carefully selects wines from a list of approximately 200 varieties, using only Vin Naturel wines, after repeated tastings.
The dishes served are based on classical French cuisine. The restaurant offers a delightful marriage of wine and ingredients that are not bound by French concepts, such as vegetables purchased from the Kamakura Agricultural Cooperative Union sales market, fresh fish delivered in the morning from fishermen in Miura, and, of course, suppon (a type of soft-shell turtle). Whether you start with a glass of wine or have a meal as your main course, this is a restaurant that you can use with ease.
